So recently, my husband and I found this wonderful tv channel named A&E. On this channel they play a wonderful array of shows that I guess you could call “reality” but they are real life instead of people placed on shows to look like idiots.
These are shows like “The First 48″ which you follow a team of officers as they try to solve a crime that was committed. It’s called “The First 48″ because they way at the beginning of the show that you need to have your main suspect and all your evidence gathered in the first 48 hours of the crime or the case will probably not be solved because evidence can dissappear or be tampered with. Great show. It’s real life crimes.
Another show is called “Parking Wars”. We spent last night watching this show over and over again as they had a little marathon of it. In this show, you follow people in the city of Philidelphia and watch as they try to get their car out of the impound lot. Mostly they spend 1-3 hours there trying to get their car out. The chaos insues when they realize they can only walk to where their car is and get their registration and insurence card out. If they want to get anything else out of their car (in one guys case - his wallet), you have to go back to the office, wait in the line and fill out a huge form so that you can walk back and get whatever it is you want.
These poor people get so frustrated. But the way they produce the show, they put in all these little sound effects and little widgets pop up on the screen showing their frustration level and you cannot help but laugh.
Then the next segment is about a traffic cop who works for the PPA (philidelphia parking authorities) who has to go around and ticket people who park illegally at meters, etc. The show last night was about a ticketer who was standing outside of this hoagie shop and people would pull up to run in and grab their sandwhich and they would get a $41 ticket…. you should have seen these people who get so so so mad and they are yelling at him and cursing and just going off about the injustice of this all. THEY are parked in an illegal zone, and THEY are telling him how much his job sucks and that he needs to get a new job. The ppa officer cant help but laugh at this whole thing.
It was highly entertaining and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good laugh at human nature and maybe enjoys a little justice creating laughter at others’ expense. But it is only a $41 ticket, so oh well.
